is the XRC8 and the XRC10 the same physical size pretty much?
for the $100 difference, I wouldn't mine the extra 2k worth of pulling power

The XRC8 is rated at 37.2 FPM un loaded and 8.2 FPM at 8k. The XRC10 is rated at 29.53 with no load and 8.86 at 8k and 7.38FPM @ 10k
so the XRC10 is a little faster at 8k

good stuff!
just deposited my compensation check for driving my last trip down to south Florida for work, so I might be laying the dough down for one soon, but I'm still undetermined on if I should just go with the 8k or step up to the 10k... it's one of those things were it's like "8k should be plenty for my truck, but what if it's not...", lol
probably going to go through Winch Depot, as they have free shipping on it unless someone else can suggest somewheres else

well when i go to get a winch, i'll probably get a 10K, because for one i have a 4runner LOL!!, and two, i want to be able to winch my truck out with my truck in neutral...RAW POWER of a big winch, if i get the 8K then i'd probably not be able to just stand outside the truck and winch it out..i'd be having to work my way out little by little..
now i won't be winching like that (outside of my truck letting the winch do all of the work) because i know it's not easy on the winch, the winch would probably last longer if i help it by trying to get out by myself with the help of the winch...if that makes any sense? lol
and 4WP is like always doing some kind of special LOL

Winch Depot and 4wheel are the same company found that out when I started pricing my 10k winch so you can get the same deal from either one of them if you call and tell them this one has this deal going and you say you will meet or beat the competition

i have the 8k and it works good for me. it pulled me up 3 water falls when i busted my berfield the other day and pulled a few jeeps out. 3 of my friends has them as well and the only problem's I've seen has been the clutch handle has a roll pin in it that can come loose. seen one fall out and another lockup because it started to come out. but that's an easy fix just had to pull the end cap and put a new pin in. the other problem in the plug-in is weak and comes loose. they only ship it with 2 screws holding it down if you put 2 more in it makes it tighter. that's the only 2 problems I've seen with them but they are easy fixes and they are all working great.

I have one, and for the money i'm happy. It is a rebadged T-Max, I have pictures from clocking it of the castings if you want. Haven't done any serious pulls, just pulled my wife's runner around the neighborhood to test it, but seems stout enough so far. Besides if you go for the 8k you can use the extra cash to get the winch kit, which includes a snatch block, so then you can pull 16k. Only real drawback I saw was that the cables are a little short but if your doing a top mount you'll be fine. I tucked my solenoid away so it didn't get beat to hell by brush.

seeeeriously thinking about placing an order this weekend... I'm highly considering the idea of going with the 8k and using the extra $100 for an accesory kit

Thanks, I'm eventually going to put the front emblem so that it covers the plug and spins outta the way to access the plug. Kinda like the trunk emblems on the old lincolns and what not that covered the trunk key hole.

i just bought the smittybuilt 8k last week. i really cant wait to get a bumper and get to use it!!! i dont plan on using it much but hopefully it will come in handy
