I'd drop the tank just to get in there and have some good welds all the way around.

What is Sky asking for that kit? I made my own Chevy hangers pretty cheap on my old truck.

Spring hangers are holding the weight of the truck - I think you would agree that you want the strongest possible weld there ...

i've done chevys in my rig and been running them for years(2). do your self a favor and get the kit it's wroth it unless youcan easily fab the stuff. as for the passenger side i welded all the way around except the inner side(where the gas tank is) all i did was driled 3 holes inside the hanger towards the inner edge and filled them witha solid weld. this proved it self worthy as i have dragged the hangers across rocks many of times. the only disadvantage of the chevys is that they r long, but tey flex very nicely for the price.

taken at MaBelle...and the rear could have dropped more but i ran out of rock

my only other words to you or anyone else is, that when you r welding on the passenger side hangers(front and rear) weld them more towrds the outside edge of the frame- reason being that the 1st time i welded mine in the center the clasp on the leaf pack would rub the gas tank and sometimes when th truck is leaning to that side the leaf pack itself would rub the gas tank. so i had to remove the hanger and slide it more towards the outside edge. works fine now.

i dont have chevy's in the rear. but i do have all-pro's long travel springs. and they require new hangers to be moved and welded. i didnt weld the inside next to the tank. just the other 3 sides. and ive thrashed hard!
