Is this normal?

I went to the beach today and played on the sand. I engaged the air locker and kept it engaged for about five minutes. After that, the compressor turned on for about 10 seconds and shut off, but the locker is still engaged though. My question is, does the compressor come on/off after the locker has been engaged for quite some time to maintain air in the system? I checked the lines when I got home and there were no leaks(used soapy water method). We tested the connections inside the diff also prior to mounting the diff into the axle and there were no leaks during the install. There's no evidence of gear oil leaking anywhere either. I'm just curious if the locker operates this way. thanks for the help.

The locker takes a bit of air to engage, so the answer is yes...

The ARB compressor will automatically kick in after engaging/disengaging the locker a few times to get it back up to 105psi. The pressur switch is 85 psi on/105 psi off. If the compressor comes on after engaging the locker only once (and not disengaging), that is generally an indication there is an air leak. My ARB will slowly go down to around 80 psi after a day or so (I have a one gallon air tank). Lately it's been holding there for quite a few days.
