Question Locker, Winch, or manual hubs ???

Next month I am getting Deaver rear springs & Donahoe coilovers for my 01 TRD 4X4 but not sure what to get next  Though over time I will get all of them I can only afford one major mod/purchase at a time.
Should I get
(1) Manual hub coversion
(2) Arb front locker
(3) Warn winch & new bumper

well, you already have one locker in the rear, so i would say do what i belive is called the grey wire mod, so you can have it locked past 5mph or whatnot, then i would have to say for you to get the warn winch and bumper, cause i think that will help you out alot more then a front locker will, especially if you wheel at all by yourself.

but thats just what i would do.

yeah i agree with wade, specially since a pair of lockers gives you the ability to get so stuck you'll *need* a winch to get unstuck...get the winch first .

manual hubs...so you have a.d.d...there's a thread about manual hub conversions, i think it started about the downey conversion, there are very few wheeling-related reasons to get manual hubs, read over that thread before you decide to get manuals or not as the advertised reasons for the conversion are a bit deceptive. i got mine for the ability to use 2wd low range, and nothing else, so i didnt care about the other claims, which was good because they turned out to be effectively false other than less wear & tear on the cv joints and boots.

Not trying to point out mistypes or jack thread, but just to clarify
Gray Wire Mod allows the locker to be engaged in more than just 4wd LO. I have done it, and I can engage my locker in 2wd, 4wd HI, or 4wd LO. But in any case, I still have to be travelling slower than 5mph to engage it. With locker engaged, you can go as fast as you want.

Thumbs up

Thanks fellas,
Wade-I did the ''grey wire mod'' same day as this post. Thanks to this site and people like you that was a breeze . Good advice guys cause I do wheel by myself or with my kids alot so a winch does make sense. I am thinking an ARB or TJM front bumper.

Devin-ya I would most likely push the limits and end up screwed without the winch and adding a front locker right away. Yes I have ADD but my desire for manual hubs is the fact that as a daily driver I put about 50 miles a day on my truck and want to save the advertised ''wear n tear'' on my cv joints and boots. I will read over that thread you mentioned. Also was concerned about tearing up ARB front locker without the ability to completely unlock front hubs when cruising freeway speeds to work. Thank you both for the replies and the good advice that they contain in them!!!

Thank you sir, thats why I did the mod. I wanted four high with locker and to be able to use it in two wheel drive on the boat ramp.

I'd put those 3 mods in this order of importance if it were me...

1.) manual hubs
2.) winch and bumper
3.) front ARB

Happy Wheelin'

I would say

1. Winch/Bumper so you have it by the time you get a front locker

2. Manual Hub Conversion so you will have the option of 3wheel drive when you start breaking CV's when you lock the front.

3. Front ARB once you get the other stuf so you'll be prepared.
