They don't have 'em for V6/turbo and IFS diffs yet. The only model they have as mentioned above is the 8" 4 cyl diffs.

I wouldn't run a locker in front if you have ADD. If you have manual hubs go for it.
i've got manual hubs. so, the locker wont engage unless i lock my hubs correct?

Correct!

When you place a locker on the front IFS differential you will not be able to be in 4wd hi or lo with out having your hubs locked!!!!

You asked alot so I will give the simple answer:

Go buy "Toyota Truck & land Cruiser Owners Bible" by Moses Ludel.

It will answer all your questions plus some. ALL Toyota SUV/Truck owners should have one.

I had a lock-right in my last truck. It's now wrecked, possibly due to the really lousy road personality of the unit, particularly when the roads are wet.

I'd much rather have a manual locking type, and I'll save my pennies for one. I'm not doing a lock-right again on a daily driver.

If you do the type of wheeling where axle breakage is/can be part of the game, here is an interesting article on the Detroit.

A lot of folks have had that same experience with the Detroit. I avoid them like the plague for that very reason.

i think it depends upon the model of detroit (axle app). detroits are the only locker available for rockwells and ive never heard of one of those busting

my combo of ez-locker(same as aussie or lock-rite) and a front truetrac work great as a DD.

the truetrac is a LSD, but i can lock it fully by using the brakes, eatons and auburns arent worth the $$$$, period. there arent electracs available for toy diffs.

if you want a selectable, toy e-lockers are the most affordable you can get them for around $450 used.

if you shop around on ebay, you will find a lot of good deals, i got my truetrac for $150 shipped.

i would definitely recommend a locker in the rear of sorts, id go with a lock-rite

I am running the "TRD" electric locker in the rear, with the locker mod and for the moment, a Lock Rite in the D44. I am waiting for them to get the bugs worked out on the ElecTrac and as soon as people start to report they are happy with them, I will put one in. Limited slip in the disengaged mode and hard locked when engaged. It's electrically activated, which is a good thing for me since I seem to be REALLY hard on compressors.

Is the LOCK RITE electronic or automatic?

It's a mechanical locker (automatic). It works fine for my axle with the manual hubs, but I hear it's not a great way to go for ADD rigs. For the rear, it's not a bad choice. It's easy to get used to the on road characteristics and to learn to drive to minimize the clicking and locking up.

I have found it to be durable and well mannered so far.

Does ARB make air lockers for the 2ND GEN?

I like the idea of having the option to engage it or disengage it; automatic would seem like no fun--you would never know when it's engaged as opposed to an electric (manual) locker.

I may be wrong however.

Yeah it wasn't available for along time though. But now it is. For a while though it was only available for the 8".
