line-x

So i saw my friends explorer today with an 18" lift runnin on 40's. He just got the WHOLE thing bedlined. doors, hood, roof, everything.
Just curious, does anyone have a ballpark idea of how much that would cost to do to an 01 4runner?

I know there are some YTer's who have used herculiner with great results on their bumpers and rockers. I plan on doing that soon aswel. You could check that out instead?

I used dupli-color roll-on in my bed, and dupli-color rattle can on my rockers and behind the rear wheels. If you prep it right, it does just fine. the rattle can goes on really even... love it.

i called up line-x here in town they wanted $3200 for the whole truck, try durabakhttp://www.nonslipcoating.com/. you would have to do it yourself but it would be alot cheaper. They sell smooth and textured applications, buy yourself a body shuts gun and shoot it on its easy that how i did the floor in my truck. the gun was like $20 and i had to thin the stuff about %20 with acetone but it worked out pretty well.

I agree to look into a do-it-yourself application. Make sure to really prep the body first though or it will look terrible.
Do you have any pictures of this friends explorer?

He owns his own fab shop. So he got it pretty cheap. Wanted to try it out and fell in love with it. That stuff is indestructable man, i hit his car with a hammer. not even a scratch..

but then again 4runners can do that without line-x!!

hate to tell ya bro, but i think your friend was pulling your leg when he said he has 18" of lift and 40" tires... ...that's probaly at best 10" of lift and 36" tires, and i'm sure plenty of people on here will agree with that...

I donno how much it was but I do know it was great for if you accidentally brush against bushes or hit rocks. I never had to worry about scratches!!! Not so good for resale though!!!

not to sound like a dick or anything, but:

Why would you come here to ask how much it would cost to get your truck "linex"-ed, when you obviously have a friend who just got it done, and probably hasn't forgot how much, or who he paid?

I know that your friend had it done on an Explorer, but I can't imagine that it would be much of a difference in price, and I'm sure that he knows what it would have cost him without a discount or whatever.

Call up your local 4wd shop (or the guy you mentioned) and ask them who they recommend for a spray-on coating place (rhino, linex, whatever you like). I'm sure that they will have a good recommendation for you. Then you just call that shop and ask for a quote.

It might not be a bad idea to ask for a another quote, for it you did all the prepwork yourself (that's a decent amount of labor you can do youself, and it is important, but not that difficult, and it's a good ecuse to buy tools )

IMO don't do it yourself, every single "do it yourself" job that I have seen (in person) looked like crap, you can never get the texture to look even or the same as a professional job, sorry to those of you who have posted that they did it themselves (If it makes you happy, you can tell me to F-off )

IF you don't care what it looks like, then go for it and do it yourself, I wouldn't even try to do it textured, just do it flat

Oh no...Not another Ford vs. Toyota thread

I have both and they are both beasts. Toyota's are for sure built better but they both have never left me stranded and both have close or over 200 k miles.

Sorry for the hijack...I have heard good things about Herculiner (SP)???
