Yeah, but you have the cool big compartment. I loved that thing in the 00 that I had for a little while.

I tried to stuff the strap in, but I would have never been able to get it out.

Why is it a bad idea to use the hitch ball as a point?

because if you get any slack, the loop can slip off and send the two rig flying.

take the hitch out of the receiver, put the loop of the strap into the 2" square hole and put the pin through the loop to positively secure it. no rear D-ring is needed. you still need one for the front though.

Yep that's what I do.

I did see something interesting on the piece of paper that came with the strap. "It should not be used to jerk a stuck vehicle free." What if you can't get the traction to get it out and you don't have another rig? You would think that 30,000 lbs would be quite a big jerk but if you keep it small it might be ok.

Unhappy

I actually thought it was pretty lame on both 4WP and UPS's parts. I ordered my strap on the 16th, yet UPS didn't receive the billing information until the 26th (4WP to blame). Then UPS picks the package up from 4WP on the 28th, and they say that it's "on time" for a scheduled delivery date of December 6th (UPS to blame). I used to order tons of computer parts from various distributors in CA, not more than 8 years ago, that only took 4 business days to arrive, "every time". It seems lately that UPS takes longer and longer. I've had much better results from FedEx and USPS. Meanwhile, I've not been sent one email from 4WP. Normally I'd be complaining. I'm not complaining, not at $19.99/strap... I'm just venting :pat:

Two things:

1) 4000 3x30" straps were ordered while there was a misprint of the price. They were backordered, go figure. thats why 4WP took so long.

2) Its the holiday season, UPS is very backed up right now. The average increase in Ground delivery right now is about 50%, there are not enough trucks to fit packages on right now, it happens every year at this time.

I would hate to be in customer service at 4wp! I called and talked to the poor guy about my shipment and he said it went out last Fri. but couldnt provide me a tracking # . He said it would be here sometime this week. Well its Fri. and I have yet to get the strap. What really makes me mad is the fact that I ordered this thing on the 16th and on the 17th they took the money from my account. So now, the have my cash but I have no strap!!!!!!!!! And no communication to let me know that is is on back order! I feel it is there responsibility to at least let the customer know that it is runnung late and when they can expect it.
I understand that they were overwhelmed with orders but, if they were a respectable company they would have at least let their customers know what was going on.

Sorry for the rant, I just had to get that off my chest!

You guys in eastcoast will have to be patient because these things are leaving from the Los Angeles area and will take considerably longer to get there. Number one because of the holiday season as stated already, and two because 4WP is slow as it is.

I am just one state over and it took two weeks for my strap to get there.

Nevertheless, I put my strap to the test by pulling some stumps and they took care of the small task while getting a bit dirty.

I understand it being the holiday season and that they're being shipped from the West coast. Like I said in my previous post, I wasn't complaining, just venting I "am" a patient guy and I have a 4"x30' strap and a 25' tow chain to tide me over should the need arise to have to recover a vehicle. It just would have been nice to get an email from 4WP.

Now on a side note, I was a computer tech from 1989 until about 2 years ago. I used to order a lot of computer parts, including and especially around the holidays. UPS "has" in fact grown slower in that time frame.

Notice the disclaimer about shipping delay due to large volume of orders for straps

Some one post up pix of how big these are rolled up. FJ40 doesnt have a lot of room.

Sorry to hear about that. That's aweful.

Sucks to be you 96LtdYota. I got mine a week ago and it was the best event of my life! My existence before possessing this tow strap was meaningless and empty, but now I'm complete.
