I've been putting off buying a good first aid kit for my truck for some while now. I have a fairly basic one that I carry with the essentials, but I want to get something a little bit more comprehensive since I've started venturing further off the beaten path and was hoping some of the folks here with experience in the medical/EMT field could steer me in the right direction.

I was looking at this one, The Portable Hospital, but I think there might be a better one out there somewhere for less or a more comprehensive kit for the same amount.

I wouldn't be above piecing a kit together either, but I need to know what should be considered a "must have" and what can be considered a "nice to have." If there is a thread somewhere about this on YT, mods, please delete this thread.

Our local Army supply store in Placerville has a nice surplus German medic kit with all ;the bells and whistles for not much $.
On the other hand I found a tacklebox and loaded it with all the bandages, cremes, scissors and whatnots I could lift from the hospital. Didnt cost me a dime.

the thing with First Aid kits, is that you have to know how to use them, the kit dont mean anything if you dont know basic First Aid, most Red Cross facilities offer classes, as well as community colleges.
I myself could use a refresher class, its been a long time since my G.I. days, lol.
oh and yes I carry 2 kits in my 4runner at all time, along with a Nurse Practioner

 

but of course. I could probably use a refresher too as it's been a few years since my scouting days. And I should probably take the time to go through a CPR class too.
