fabtech/superlift/skyjacker/or other which lift guys???

i am going to retain my IFS. but i am looking on line for a lift for my 86 pick up extended cab. Has anyone had good luck and good FLEX with some of the kits out there. i have 31 inch super swampers on it right now but need some more ground clearance and flex. the 31s will be staying on till i sell them or they wear out. if anyone has some good or bad openions i would love to hear it.

thanks

Fabtech doesn't have a 4WD lift for this year range Toyota - only 2WD. I had one of their older lifts, and it was great!

If it's 2WD and you're looking at the Fabtech spindles, note that you might need new wheels to clear the backspacing...

How can you run coilover's with the procomp. I must have missed something.

superlift, trailmaster, procomp, black diamond, bds are all basically the same. Of those Superlift is the best (Strength)

Rancho made kit, but it is kinda funky.

Downey took Rancho's kit and made it funkier.

Total Chaos started the long travel arms as far as I can tell

Jd fabrication and ESB fabrication improved on the designs

Then there is the ball joint spacer, simple, cheap, and effective.

Then there is the Solid Axle Swap

I think that is all of the options.

Ball joint spacers or a high end long travel kit. Here's the thing, all the big name kits (excluding again the long travel Total Chaos, etc...) don't get you more travel unless you modify them. This is by no means hard to do, just want you to understand you'll need to do some fabrication to get more travel. Don't get the Pro comp Stage II, it is the hardest to modify for more travel.

You can add bj spacers to the Superlift type kits too.

The thing you want to look for are the kits with the one piece drop brackets. The Superlift and Black Diamond are two. Just looking at them, I pick the Black Diamond. It looks like it would be easy to add an extra skid plate to the BDS too.

I think stock travel is like 7" (Someone confirm or correct this)

Any of the barcket kits (superlift, black diamond, bds, trailmaster, procomp) will get that same 7" of travel

BJ spacers will kick it up to 8.5" of travel (1.5" more, I believe)

A long travel kit (chaos, ESB, JD fab) will get you 12" with stock cv's

Protrux is developing upper arms for these trucks. I have already seen one set installed on a t-100 and it pulled 9.5-10" of travel. Kind of a cool intermediate step.

I would get BJ spacers and wheel those, you'll probably like em. If not, they would be easy to sell again if you decide to upgrade. They're great products.

I used to believe that as well, until I installed the Superlift kit on a 94 4Runner. Unlike most IFS kits, the compression bumpstop extensions do NOT match the lift; they are 1" less drop. Where TrailMaster and others match their 4" bracket lifts w/ 4" bumpstop drops, the SL kit has 4 and 4.5" bracket drops (1/2 longer on the rear bracket - not sure why), but the bumpstop drops are only 3 and 3.5".

When I installed the kit, I also installed Rockstompers IFS travel kit (1/4" balljoint spacer and 3" drop bumpstops. I was surprised to see that the SL bumpstop drops were almost identical to the Rockstomper drops...

So, in theory, the SL kit should give a good amount more travel than stock.
