Dual case ,front case not fully engaging

Im in the process of swapping transmissions. In the mean time, im cleaning everything up and taking my time on the project for once. I am also swapping in a new rear reduction case. My problem is that the front case doesnt seem to fully engage. I have the adapter and case apart at the moment and i the fork only seems to slightly move. This is the same adapter and case i was running without any problems. Suggestions?

Is it a top shift or forward shift. Was it forward shift with fork cut down that now hits new tranny? Gears just not meshing cause they're not aligned?
