Crawl Box Questions
For those of you looking in the 1st Gen 4Runners threads, you'll see I'm looking into getting a 4Runner with a couple of modifications, but the one thing I'm thinking about adding is a crawl box, only because I've heard of the cool things you can do with one.
But, I had a couple of questions. First, while I've heard what they can do, I have no idea how they actually work. So, can they be disengaged so that road driving is possible, or is it a fixed system? Where exactly does it get mounted? Considering I'm not looking for much larger wheels (that require birfield eliminators), would I even need the box?

The crawl box can be engaged and disengaged just like your regular 4wd. its like being able to put your truck in 4 lo, and then you have another stick to put it in double 4 lo.. Or you could just put lower gears in your stock transfer case box. it will make your 4 lo go super slow. cheaper than getting dual cases.
Go to marlincrawler.com or trail-gear.com they have some stuff you can read to better educate yourself on transfer cases and crawl boxes.
