CO Springs Fab Shop, Not Rockware

To all the Colorado People and anybody else for that matter.
I have found a fab shop that does custom work for 4x4's.
You name it this guy can do it and his work is every bit as good as
Rockware but at about 2/3 rd's the price of Rockware.
Example: Quote From Rockware for custom skids from front to T-Case just in front of gas tank $650.00 Armorology $ 400-450.00 Same quality and materials. I talked to this guy tonight for about an hour and he is as ANAL...as I am when it comes to fit and finish. The reason his prices are better is that he does not have the overhead that Rockware has and he does all the work himself. I will be going there tomorrow to have him give me hard Numbers to do my skids and will let you know what I come up with. Take a look at his web site and you be the judge. Later Doug

Sounds like a good find. The post also reads partially like a big Rockware bash.

I am completely happy with all the dealings I have had with Rockware and believe the chunk of steel on my truck was worth every hard earned penny.

Where is this new place, in the Springs?

By no way is this a slight on the quality of work that Rockware does.
I just thought I would throw it out there to you guys in the Colorado Area.
Adrain I do like Matt and the work he does, it's just if I can get the same product pretty much apples to apples and the price is cheaper then Hey I'm going for it. I already have to much wrapped up in my rig not to cut a few corners once in awhile. Later Doug

RicNkc quick quote on rear bumper with tire mount Around $1000
I will not have al the details on the skids for a few days, he is doing some more pricing based on the custom aspect of how I want the t-case skid to wrap around and up the sides to the sliders. If I get these done and installed I will post pics and my overall impression of the work. He was very willing to entertain any and all Ideas that I had and had alot of creative juices flowing on some special tweaks. Doug

Adrain
The location in the Springs is just about a mile from where I work and about 2 miles apart from Rockware.

Isn't that around the same price as a Rockware rear bumper with a tire mount? $1,000 is alot of cash for a rear bumper....Wait maybe the rockware is around $1,300...hell I could be wrong though.

That is about it for a Rockware.

I did not mean to slight your discovery Doug, it is indeed good to create competition in this game.

yea, i called Rockware about 3 months ago, and they told me it would be about $1400 for the tire carrier, this other place is about $1100, the quality looks awesome with both guys, this is my thoughts, if the quality is the SAME, pretty much same looks, same reliablity, etc, etc, ill go with the one thats $300 cheaper, remember id be coming in from Kansas City, so that $300 would help out alot.

I'm still waiting to go back to the shop at the end of the week for the real quotes. Just to let you guys know, this guy is a young entrepreneurial trying to get his name out there with the 4x4 crowd. He has been doing this Fab work for a little over 2 1/2 yrs, 1 yr at this shop now. He is a one man shop and his workload right now is about 5 weeks out. He is so booked up with work that he has a jeep coming in the week of the Aug 16th for some work and is willing to bump that guy just to get me in to do my skids in time for the Jambo here in Colorado. I will keep you guys updated as it comes together and Pics to follow. Later Doug

I have found that with Rockware or any other competition that if they are slow and the work is not coming in then prices will change. When I had my Sliders done at Rockware last winter he was just waiting arond for work at the time and the price was somewhat lower because of it. Dave (DSP) had a rear bumper built at Rockware around the same time and it was less than some of the other yotatech members had paid for the same setup in the past......

Hey Doug,

Good find dude. Im looking forward to hearing about your experience with Armorology.
The rear bumper looks awesome. Do you know if this guy needs your vehicle there to do the work (like Rockware). Being in WA doesn't make it easy to pick up one of these gems.

Hey Mike
Took the truck into today to start the work on the skids.
Jed who owns and runs the shop is great to work with and really listens to what you want. He will throw out ideas and what if's just to make sure you get it the way you like. Just to let you know how picky he is he wanted to have it for 5 days just to have time to plan out the look as well as the fit and finish of the product. OK with me I like people that are as "ANAL" as I am about those things. When finised I will post up pics so you all can decide if the are all that! Later Doug

So how much does a front bumper usually run over at rockware? I really like the one on the green 3rd gen... but if amorology is that much cheaper I might have to look into it there..
