I actually met Bud this weekend.....and i gotta say, he's literally one of the nicest people i have EVER met. He had his granddaughter with him, and she was grabbing the welding helmet and mig gun wanting to weld something up, lol.

He's local to me, and i'm planning on getting one of his skid/crossmemebers for my 93 pickup next weekend. I'm all for supporting local people, and actually meeting him before hand deff sealed the deal.

everyone local has something of his....and considering how we are in a VERY heavy wheeling area (tellico, dpg, the farm, URE, paragon, etc...etc...etc...etc.............) his products are DEFF proven to withstand the punishment that just about anyone can toss out.

 

Yep just waiting on my skids now hope they get here before the ONF rover rallye this weekend!

Still waiting. I got an email today saying he has bad weather, no worries I know whats that like. Though I wont have them for the Land rover Rally this weekend kinda sucks. Its fun, 1 showing them up and 2 getting way better gas mileage doing it! They stop for fuel like its going out of style.

lol yeah my friend was like omg you get 18mpg? i was like dude i used to get 20, hes at GT with 265s 3 inch OME lift on his disco and gets 10-12mpg

 

We wn out last year and like every other station they passed, I though it was a joke at first but tjen I just felt bad for them. My buddy just did a diesel swap in his rover and Im interested to see how it goes. The diesel is what they use for the expeditions so reliability and fuel economy would be better.

BudBuilt gone wild! So I got the in today and I will head in early to the office tomorrow 5am to install the skids before the work day commences. I had the wild idea to paint the skids zebra to match the underside of my Hannibal tent.I'm not into to flashy stuff but a little flair and creativity doesn't hurt.

i have the skid and belly on my 4Runner. Good stuff for sure.

 

Finally some good pictures of Buds underbelly skidplate... Looks good!

I see you installed hex head bolts for the 2nd plate. Did the supplied carriage bolts not fit the slots in yours?

 

Yea the carriage fit but the inner square was to small. So I upgraded to grade 8, if I can find those ultra slick cone shape things that OMF uses on their beadlocks to keep the hex head carnage to a minimum I would buy some.

Yeah they sent me 3/8" bolts and the holes are cut for 1/2". Not sure whats up with that. I went to Lowes and picked up 1/2" carriage bolts and installed them. Did you have to trim the steering rack bracket to get it to fit on the rack mounts?

Oh futher mucker it was off by 1/2" ish I had to re center it at in the dark at 6am. Yeah I fixed it but I figured it was my toyota luck.

I am looking at getting the Bud skid plate on my 4runner with the SS 1.2 lift. Not sure if they can do a custom mod and make a removable part so I can change my oil without having to drop the whole skid plate?

Anyone else have any pics with the skid plate on their rigs?

 

I had the BudBuilt and belly plate on my 02 4Runner. I installed a Fumoto oil drain valve. It made draining the oil easier but the filter was still a little bit of a pain. Use a piece of carboard to funnel it out the side and you don't have to drop the plate. Not perfect and it takes a hiwl to drain through the valve, but for me, it was easier than dropping the pan.
