budbuilt....done

I finally got around to installing the dual case version of Budbuilt cross member.
I didn't use the other peice that came with it yet. I don't actually have dual case yet It does cover the whole thing pretty well.

I highly suggest that you get some washers between those bolt heads and the x-member. BIG ones that disperse the weight on the bolt head.

I would upgrade to grade 8 bolts and put some large washers on there also at the very least add some large washers, the first time that skid hangs up on a rock its going to pull right over the bolt heads!

If those are the stock threaded holes they would be metric and "grade 8" is a standard thread classification. There is a grade 8 equivalent in metric (class 12.9) but get out your $$$$$ for those puppies. If it were me, I'd probably stay with the lower grade bolts for that location unless I was going to be racing over the rocks. I would get some grade 8 washers though, Lowes sells them and you could find a size close enough to the metric size bolts to work.

I was thinking of getting better bolts and washers. I also want to make something to prevent rocks from shearing the bolts from 1/4" C channel.

just cut a 1/4 inch sliver off of a 1 1/2 to 2 inch pipe and weld it on around the bolt area...
