Any new rear shock location ideas?
yes I've searched. Looked at many a picture. The weak link in my truck even before I finish the long travel front end is my rear. I plan on getting 63's, but the hang up I'm running into is going to be shock location.
1. I still want to utilize the bed, so doing a bed cage is kinda the last thing I want to do. But if it comes to it, I'll do it.
2. I really like blazen8's set up with the 3" wheel spacers, and mounting the shocks on the outside of the frame/outboard of the springs. Only thing is there, I'd have to get either bedsides to match the fiberglass fronts, or a ghetto fender flare. Idaho requires full tire coverage, otherwise I'd be like "screw it" and go with 4 1/2" of tire stick out.
3. Cantilever whosamabanger. Don't like the idea of all that geometric calculating and buying 400' of tubing to make a celtic structure under my bed to support all that crap.
4. I know angling my shocks inboard toward the center or two feet forward/back from my axle are no bueno. So not even considering that one.
Besides hard parts, I'm trying to keep this long travel build at a reasonable cost. I guess what I'm asking is for some opiphany someone's had about a geometrically correct rear shock set up to utilize all the potential travel.
Any ideas that might tickle my fancy?
