alternator replacement

I fried the alternator on my 04 taco today and barely coasted into my driveway before everything died. So now im looking for a replacement, and im not sure if i should just get another generic one, (I.E. the Aftermarked, Bosch, Denso, et. alternators) or if i should splurge and spend a couple hundred dollars more to get the Mean Green "heavy duty" one.

Anybody used/using the Mean Green? Does it handle thick mud and junk better without getting gummed up and toasting itself? Any other suggestions for durable offroad worthy replacements are welcome. Also it would be nice if anybody could tell me any mods that have been made to seal the alternator up so that mud and gunk cant get in it.

(my taco is an 04 extended cab 4x4 with the 3.4L SR5 V6, TRDoffroad package)

thanks, any input helps
