Aftermarket rear axle housings?

I'm in the market for a new rear housing since mine is bent. I see Diamond, RuffStuff, and TrailGear make them - am I missing any?

Anyone have one, and what do you think?

Diamond seems to be the "standard", but they are at least 2x the price of the others.

Spec will be Toyota 8" third, IFS width, full float, upper truss for links.

No direct experience, but I have been pleasantly surprised with the "beefiness" of everything I've purchased from TG to date.

Just by looking at all three option - the diamond would be nice, I wasn't impressed by the Ruffstuff axle (it doesn't appear to have as much ground clearance as the Trailgear or offset axle tubes. So with that said I think the Traigear housing is the way to go.

But this isn't something already didn't know...

Just my $0.02, hope this helps

P.S. here are a few lins that I'm sure you've already seen, but for others benefit...

Allthough without checking all the parts available for this housing, I still think the Trailgear is the way to go... For now, I'll keep looking further

Then I came accross The Crossed-up Housing - so another contender...

The big thing that concerns me about the RuffStuff and CrossedUp housings are that they don't have the ends installed. (Available as an option from Crossed Up, but it makes the price as high as a Diamond)

Then I guess it's either TG or diamond - really only 2 choices... So really it comes down to what one fits your needs better!

I have seen a couple of the T-G housing running around, one on some rocks in TSF. It was 4 Linked and had taken some serious abuse. Looked like a great upgrade. Better clearance over stock.

tc - the real question is what do you want to spend? I saw a thread on Pirate about the quality of the TG unit (I have no personal experience) but I have seen a few people with them that are really happy. The Diamond is almost 3 times as much, but it really is the standard. If you have the coin, get the Diamond, if you need to do it for less rather than more, get the TG.

Whatever you get, make sure you do a full write up and lots and lots o' pictures.

Closer to 2x than 3x, but yeah - that's the exact dilemma. Obviously, Diamond are made just up the road, so I wouldn't have to ship anything.

The thread on Pirate is over 2 years old from when the housings first came out - was asking for more recent experience.

Lead time may be a concern too - have to see when I could get them.

This guy seems to really like his TG unit Addicted is just up the road too, so no shipping on the TG unit. I know I didn't really help you, but this is a question only you can answer. We can lead you to others opinions (as if you couldn't do that on your own...) but it comes down to money. If I had the money, I would buy the Diamond Axle, but if I needed one sooner rather than later, I would buy the TG unit.

Went with the TrailGear, it got here Tuesday.

Diamond may be better, but at 2x the cost and 4+ weeks lead time, the math didn't add up.

I've got the current housing disassembled, will have it out from under the truck tomorrow, hope to have the new housing hanging under the truck Saturday.

Haven't quite pulled the trigger on full float yet, need to call and talk to Brian at FROR

TG housing is the way to go. Definitely going in my Ftoy when they release a front.

Do the rear full floater, one of the best mods I did.
