4wd won't engage, light comes on on the dash and 4wd low works. Both hubs lock but one won't come out of lock. Please help me to figure it out without taking it somewhere and paying so much! New to this so any help is appreciated

 

Have you tried reversing after taking it out of 4WD? I know sometimes the hubs will get stuck, and reversing will help unlock them.

 

if 4 low works but 4 high does not.

It sounds like the transfer case is not going into gear

Since you have locking hubs this has never had ADD or have the hubs been added??

If this has had hubs added to the ADD system what ever held the axle locked may have broken .

Vacuum leak causing the ADD not to work

 

Got the 4wd drive to work! But I have a loud popping noise when let on and off the gas that sound like metal on metal, would this be the universal joint?

 

Really it could be anything .

Bad CV axle

U joint

Something in the case or differential

Check the easy ones first!!

Why was it not going into 4 High ??
