88 4runner springs question
#1
Quick question: I just bought an 88 4runner, planning on starting off with a 3 inch body lift (on order) some 33x12.5 on some 10" rims (got those already) but the butt on my 4runner is saggin' I don't want to get new springs because I want to put a 4" lift on next year. Are there any cheep quick fixes? I'm assuming the junk yard will have more of the same; the previus owner proped up the back by putting bolts between the springs (but that's dangerous, right?). Thanks for the help!

when I bought it mine had 3in blocks in it, but it rode horrible. I put the downey 2" springs in, just levels it out and they weren't too expensive(the hard part is getting the old ones out). Also I think most guys just use helper springs, very cheap and probably a better route than the blocks. That said, I am open to criticism.
I do still have the blocks if you want them, but you will need to get some U-bolts made(I hade a local shop bend me some new ones).

Not so cheap.http://downeyoff-road.com/Suspension...s/1986-95.html
An auto parts store will have u-bolts of any shape or size.

I'm about to attempt the 63" Chevy spring swap in the rear of my 88 Runner. Will be a while till I can tell you how it turns out as the motor is out of the truck atm. A friend is rebuilding the block for me at cost, but the only problem is that it is at his leisure.... From what I understand about that swap is it will give you about 4-5 in of lift but increased articulation and an improved ride. I have gotten all the materials, including the springs and will have about $120 invested in it.
