just get a 6" fabtech or trailmaster lift for the tacoma and then get longer rear coils.

Thats what I was thinking....

Course, its a lot of money, and you'd probably need to get some 2" cornfed spacers in the back with OME springs...

Was wondering, do the track bars and the panhard bar need to be modified for the rear?

Just so you know, I have had to replace the frames on 2 Chevy pu's b/c of a body lift.
ie. Hard front impact and the body lift takes rigidity out of the frame/body assy. Body shifts and the frame takes a nasty licking!
Just a thought.

i also disagree with ravencr....a 3 inch body lift is terrible, ˟˟˟˟ any body lift it. all it does is space out the body from the frame, cause problems, look stupid and leave huge gaps everywhere. there is no purpose other than to fit a bigger tire.....u dont always need to have a ridiculously big tire on ur truck

I think your statement is immature, to be honest. The reason I went with a 3" body lift is that I wanted to ultimately have a completely flat underbelly, which a 3" body lift allows me to do. That was my plan, and to be honest, I probably wheel my 4runner harder than 99% of the folks out there. I haven't had any trouble out of mine since the lift. It doesn't look stupid if you cover the gaps and move your bumpers up accordingly. It only looks stupid if you do a ˟˟˟˟ty job doing it. You can't even tell if it's done correctly.

On another note, evern if you're not going to do a 3" drivetrain lift, a body lift is a great, inexpensive way to gain an extra 3" in lift to clear some bigger tires. It's very easy to install, and it's cheap!

Measured my OME/stock coil/2" cornbred setup next to an identical stock limited and came up with 4 inches (including tire-height gains from 285's). I am installing a 2" body lift and 315's so this will put me at 6 - 7" over a stock 4runner limited.

The gappings on the 4Runners don't look all that terrible. Just the bumpers you can tell arent all that good, but the body's side you cant tell too much of a difference. Also read the rules before posting about languages.

If you guys buy the body lift from Roger Brown, he'll tlel you where to get the wheel covers, plus his kits include front bumper brackets, so the front and rear bumpers look just like stock.

I think if you use grade 8 hardware, there's probably not much difference between the stock grade 5 stuff. I'm sure there's more leverage, obviously, but it would be interested to see the real difference, if any.

I'm not a huge fan of body lifts. 4Runner have one piece bodies that can't articulate with the frame like a truck can do. A truck frame twists and since the bed and cab aren't attached there is some allowed flex. My bronco has a 4 inch lift and 3 inch body lift and I hate the body lift. It has to absorb the frame flex and after 3 years of wheelin' they are starting to go south. It also causes extra top heavy sway due to higher COG. You read any four wheel drive magazine and they all puke on body lifts. I'll never put a body lift on my runner or tacoma, but I've got buddies that do it for clearance. The only positive thing they ever say is they could put on a bigger tire. Ever other comment is negative.

I'm not saying to not do it, because asthetically it raises your truck ,gets you on some bigger rubber, but creates an ugly gap between your frame and body (minor fix though), and can be a pain in the butt due to all the little details.

Good luck with whatever you do.

My '97 4unner has a 6 or 7 inch lift and it's 4wd. I haven't had any problem with the suspension yet.

Here ya go. In this pic ( 98 Land Cruiser), its sitting on 38x14's.

It has a slight body lift, say 3-4". It was functional and it wheeled like a raped ape.

I say go for it!
