Thought it would be a great help if all of you 4th gen users post your servicing details including which fluids are replaced at what intervals, keeping in mind both on- and off-road use. Also, what checks need to be done after a week of off-road.

The Toyota sales guy claimed normal on-road (city+highway) use requires oil change every 7500 miles, but the service department recommends 5000 miles (actuall put 3500 miles service reminder on the sticker)

If this is already covered, I apologise for not doing a thorough search on YT.

 

just service it more often. i do all my changes in 3000 increments so ... whatever works for you.

 

depending on what youv done inbetween service.. if its been hardcore then go for 3-4k miles.. if its been driven around by a soccer mom then let it slide for awhile..

 

If you are getting it wet by going in water over the hubs I would make sure to check the bearings. Re pack the once or twice a year if you go a bunch. If lots of mud I would pull the wheels off each trip and clean out the breaks and regreese everything, check for mud build up and such. May want to take off the skid to make sure your not carrying around anything. If it's dry and dusty change the air filter. Tranny fluid and diff fluid needs to be changed more often as well. Heat is a killer for atuo trans. If you don't think wheeling is hard on your rig your fooling yourself. More if you adde big tires. After each trip you should give it a good general inspection befor you hit the road for the return trip.
