2nd Gen - Daily Driver Suspension

I know there are a ton of posts regarding Downey coils, OME and all the shocks.

But i feel they are more geared for the hardcore 4x4....what if i guy is only using this truck (91 2 door 4Runner) for 5-10% of its time on the path...

Im in the process of ordering Downey HD coils, BJ spacers, and manual hubs... and curious if i should even replace my monroe shocks, or spend cash for new Bilstien/OME/Rancho shocks.....

Are there any DD trucks out there with experience ???

My runner is a DD for the most part, although I have built my suspension so its nice in the city which is like the trails when considering the amount and size of potholes and road upheaving. But at the same time I wanted a suspension that when I hit the trails it is reliable. I find OME great. In the city everything is smooth, and bumps are absorbed without feeling a thing. Offroad they are impressive, (comparing to old suspension, and others vehicles). I had ranchos on before..not good experience at all. Many posts on here regarding this issue, so crack a beer and start reading.

About 95% of the trucks on this site are built exactly the same as your plan (that's why this is going in the off road section).

mine is my DD, and i run a 4" superlift kit, cheapo shocks, 33" BFG M/Ts, rear locker, and manual hubs. rides fine IMO... 2nd gen 4Runners really aren't going to ride that bad unless you lose the IFS and/or throw incredibly stiff springs in the rear...

I drive 80 km (50 miles) per day with this set up (check my new photos): http://community.webshots.com/user/4runnermatti

I like your idea. Maybe bigger tires too?

Mine is mainly a DD, and I'm on OME all around. They ride great, and are built to last.

Mine's a DD too, and OME does everything very well. I don't know if you would want to do BJ spacers with just the Downey's in the rear. The front will be a higher than the back, again.

Yeah, that´s right if you don´t loosen t-bars. I have 2" rear spacers and t-bars are loosened a little. Now it´s at balance, is it? (Can you see my picture? Why it disappear sometimes?)

Why Downey´s? Get spacers.

The folks at Downey recommended Doetsch (maybe they needed to move them!), and I'm very pleased with the results.

the doestch shocks i got from downey with the kit are crap, they wore out after less than a year. Get bilsteins or OME, i would predict nobody here could tell any major difference between them. I had the downey HD springs on my truck for a long time and it rode better than stock.
