Question 1972 Warn model 5687

I'm curious as to what anybody may know about this winch. I know this particular one was made in 1972 it has power in only, no power out. I have searched yota tech and haven't found anything about it.
Thanks

Also it's an 8000 pound winch (that in my searching I've read pulls like a 12000) and the reason i ask is a fella has one on CL for 300 I am going to go look at it and if I think I can use it offer 200. I'm just trying to learn something about it prior to looking at it.

Thanks but I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon searching google and didn't find a whole lot. That site is good but tough to read. I guess I shoulda said does anyone have any experience with this winch? If so in your opinion how does it stand up against the newer warns for mild wheeling?

also search for Bellview or bellvue. That is the name before it was WARN. I ahd the winch. PRetty basic. It is cable operated, but i used a solinoid to make it pull with a switch. Biggest thing with it is it has an external brake. So once you let off the pull it will let the line back out. You will need to get a universal cable to operate the brake unless you have one already.

My suggestion is save a few more bucks and get a different winch. I friend of mine had one of those on his TJ and it was a real pain. The cable brake thing is dangerous, the cable operated clutch is difficult, and it's old!!

I usually wouldn't state something so strongly, but we all hated it!
