What to look for in a T100?

I'm looking at a 97 T100 4x4 and I'm wondering what to look for. It has @ 108,000 miles on it and the owner has not changed the timing chain so I know that needs to be done. What else??? Any recalls or things that wear out that need to be replaced?
What does the timing and water pump replacement cost???

Thanks for your help.

Brad

First the Truck if it has a 3.4 is a belt not a chain. Second I can't remeber any recall other than the Headgasket on the older 95s. Mostly you'll want to look for leaks and things of that nature. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to have it looked at by an independent mechanic. I'd also recommend if you haven't done it run a carfax on it to make sure it hasn't been in an accident. I can't think of anything else right now I'll post back if I think of anything else.

Well, I looked at a 97 today with 140,000 miles on it. The guy said that he bought it with 82,000 on it and he hasn't replaced the timing belt on it since he has had it. Should I be concerned about that?
He wants $7500 for the truck, do you think this is a good price?
the body has some dings and scratches also the muffler is full of holes. He did say something about getting new struts for the front and new brake roters.

What do y'all think???

thanks

sounds like the guy doesnt care about the truck and that says a lot. i would pass on that one. most trucks recommend the timing belt be changed at 60k, yet the 3.4 is at 90k. still way over due.

Same here I'd pass on it there are guys out there that baby there trucks and those are the ones you really want. Though if you can find one thats been taken care of with normal maintance it should do nicely. Also I can look a bit online if I get a chance. What kind of miles, Cab size, trans, 2wd/4wd, and the other options are you looking for as that will help us give you a better price check for the trucks.
