How to use locking center diff?

Reading the manual for the '98 Land Cruiser I bought last night... it's not very informative.
I know the truck is full-time 4WD, and I know I can lock the center diff in 4High to get something more like a traditional part-time 4WD, the question is when I drop into 4Low, does the center diff lock automatically, or do I still have to push the dashboard button?
