Deckplate mod...Chip? whats better for T100?
I've read quite a bit about the deckplate mod. Seems pretty easy, however, I looked at my air box on my 95 T100, and noticed the sides were "ribbed". It makes me think getting a good seal from the deckplate to the sidewall of the airbox will be problematic. My neighboor (jeep guy) asked my why I don't just look into ordering a higher performing "chip"? any thoughts?

I thought about doing the deckplate mod too. I came to the same conclusion, it won't work. I doubt that it would be worth while. I don't think that you can just order a chip. When I looked into that, I had to ship my computer out and have Jet change it. I didn't like that. I don't think that there are any truly good bolt on cheap horsepower mods for these motors. A aftermarket exhaust might help.

I'm trying to keep it pretty stock, I don't need more power, I would like more power. Know what I'm say'n. I wounder if there is an airbox I can get from the junk yard, I figured it would be the same as those in the other 3.4 L's. Are all T100 air boxes different than the other trucks that share this engine?

I think that all 3.4L T100 airboxes are the same. I bet you could get an airbox out of a Taco and use it. Also one thing that I looked into was the little box that tricks your computer into thinking that the motor never warms up. I wouldn't use it unless you want to get minimum gains and big losses in fuel mileage. One thing I have been thinking of is to put some type of cold air intake using the stock box. I don't have any plans yet, but I want to put a snokel on (I am getting tired of replacing the air filter because its wet and dirty) and that would do it.

The deckplate mod will work on your T100's guys. The airbox shouldn't be that different than any other 3VZ-FE's. I did it on mine and just put some black, gasket caulking between the deckplate's rim and the ribs in the airbox.
I was skeptical at first, but it works great. I've gained 1/2 - 1 mpg as well as a very slight increase in throttle response. While you are bringing in warmer air to the airbox, you are also opening up the airbox to bring more in so its not impeded.
PM me your e-mail and I can send pictures of my installation... my install page isn't up yet.
Regards,
Joel

Pics coming and manual hubs
elnido,
I'll get those pics out to you tonight hopefully.
Why manual hubs?
That link gives my rational and a quick runover of how it went for me. Also on that webpage are links to step-by-step rebuilding of Aisin manual hubs. Don't pay more than $60-70 shipped for a used set, rebuild them, and you are ready to go. I leave mine locked during the winter so I can stilll shift into 4wd on the fly.
If you decide to do it, I can direct you in the right direction for some used ones.
