New Member. With FJ80 Driveline Clunk

I have a 92 Landcruiser and when driving if i let up on the pedal, then step on it again i will hear and feel a clunk. It is a little worse after i have driven 2 or 3 miles. I had 4 new toyota u-joints installed thinking that would help, but it did'nt. Anyone have a idea of where to look next.
It only has 91K

Maybe the rubber bushing between the crossmember and the xfer case is shot? looks ok visually but under load the case is moving to much....
My first guess

Hmmm...my first guess would have been u-joints as well. Have you crawled underneath to see if there is any play in the driveshaft?

My 91 LC does the same thing. It also makes the clunk noise when you put it into gear (reverse or drive). Haven't had time to look into it yet but let me know if you figure it out. It drives great other than that.

That is normal. Dont sweat it. The glunk is from the play in the transfer case. I have taken out my front DS and locked the center diff(TC) and driven it in 2wd,....it almost completely goes away. I dont think there is a Viscous coupling our pre '93 Cruisers.

My clunk goes away when I grease the splines on the drive shafts. I expect that is probably your issue as you stated that it gets worse after driving a few miles.
