good price on a '40?

driving through downtown today, i spotted an FJ40 for sale...$2600. i figured i'd take a look at it. seems it's a '69 with a 3 speed. supposedly has new exhaust, u-joints, distributor and carb. interior doesn't look too bad, just has that old barebones charm i'm thinking about calling on it.

what things should i look out for on a rig like this? of course it's got a few rust spots, but that doesn't bother me much. i looked at the frame a little and it just seemed to have the typical NW surface rust, nothing to really be concerned about i think.

Hey Kyle,

I'm no FJ40 expert so if I was in the market, I would take it to someone who is and have them take a look. I know rust can be expected in certain places but not others. I don't know which places though...

I know there are people in your neck of the woods on the Land Cruiser forum over at i8mud.com. If you go take some pictures and post them in chat I'm sure you will get some feedback. And maybe a recommendation for a shop to inspect it and tell you where the vehicle stands, or even someone local who knows their stuff and will look at it with you.

Good luck!
