Drove '91 LC on dry pvmnt w/Center Diff Lock ON, now trans won't engage w/out. HELP!

I recently purchased a '91 Land Cruiser w/auto transmission. My mechanic husband wanted to check some things and had me put the Center Diff Lock ON and drive her around the block. I never went over 20 mph and all seemed well - until I went to drive her this morning. She wouldn't go in gear without having the Center Diff Lock turned on. Also, when putting the shifter back into the Park position (with Center Diff Lock OFF), it makes a grinding sound. Any suggestions??? Thanks!
