84 fj60 throttle linkage how to connect?

I'm working on a 84 fj60 with stock carb that was removed by someone else and now that I have it reinstalled I cant figure out how the the ball sockets on the linkage that runs from the firewall to the carb bracket are held into their sockets. I have some clips that look like a hairpin but can't figure out how to make it work or if I'm still missing a part. Any photos of this area that you know of? Thanks

As far as I remember, the balls fit into the sockets and the clips go on to retain them in the sockets ball into socket, then clip perpendicular to ball-equipped linkage. The clip prevents the ball from coming out of the socket.

Buddy has a 60, but I'm not sure how complete it is. I will try and look within a few days. Kurt at CruiserOutfitters would be your best knowledge source if nothing can be found here...
