What are folks using for rear bump stops? I pulled mine off a few years ago. They had rusted to the point of almost falling off. I pulled a set from a junk yard. They are in ok shape but still have rust. I cleaned and painted but rust is coming back. Before I can get them on I have to extract the bolts from the frame where the heads sheared off.
So I've been thinking do I use the used ones with rust or do something different. I haven't found any aftermarket ones that match the bolt holes of the 2WD OEMs. Has anyone used the 4WD bump stops with U bolts over the frame? With this I'd have to make a plate to go on the top to slide the u bolts ends in and bolt down on.

Oh sorry, I see that now. Yeah mid 80's is tough. All I can find on that is the following:

might be able to modify it to work.

For rear bump stops, retain the stock ones for standard use, but consider extended or adjustable options if you have a lift or larger tires to prevent bottoming out. Polyurethane bump stops are durable and offer better performance under load. Hydraulic bump stops are ideal for off-road applications, absorbing impacts smoothly. Ensure proper sizing and adjustability based on your suspension setup. Always match bump stops to your vehicle’s needs for optimal performance.
