I just got a 2WD 8" axle to put in a wrangler.
When i was looking online about this axle i saw something about the carriers are particular to the original gear that was with it. I didnt head much mind to this cause i was going to throw in a 4x4 3rd with a ratio to match the front of the Jeep. BUT now i am having a hard time finding a stock 4.10 3rd in my area. And when i went back to searching about this information about the 2WD gears i couldnt find the information i had seen (or thought) before.
My question is.
To regear my 2WD 3.07 ration 3rd, do i need another carrier or special gear set? Or is there nothing differnt between the 2WD and 4WD setups?
tHanks!

Are you talking about a Toyota 8" dif? Try going to ZUK's page may be called Eriks differential website. There is a lot of info there. I don't thinks there is anything different but you will find the answer there.
