Bad shaking @ 60/65mph

93 2WD Etra-cab 22RE Automatic: @ 60/65 mph I have a bad shaking(makes back of passenger seat shake side to side real bad) feels like a tire hasn't been balanced. Here is what has been done so far: Driveshaft carrier bearing replaced, checked u-joints(all good & tight)(test drive & still shakes) set rear on jack stands, run truck @ 60/65mph (no shaking), watched driveline to see if it was bent or anything abnormal, checked rear wheel bearings(all seems tight & looks good there), swapped the tires from front to rear(test drive & still shakes) replaced front upper control arm bushings(they were shot)(test drive & still shakes) 4 new shocks(test drive & still shakes) 4 new tires(test drive & still shakes) Pushed & pulled on all tierods & pitman arm(no movement or slop there)It feels like its at the seat of my pants or the rear. The steering wheels isn't shaking.

I had les schwab put brakes on my yoter and had a problem with violent wobbling from 45 to 75 mph.

As it tuned out they put a crap rotor on that wasn't true in a circle so it was bad at cruising speeds but worse when i applied the brakes at those speeds.

Hope this could help

I Have the Same Problem

Ive had this issue for a while now as well. Took tires in for rebalancing, made it a little better, wiggle is still there. Lets get to the bottom of this.

OP: Warped front brake rotor(s); given the new parts and lack of shake when on jackstands it doesn't seem like it could be much else. Check the passenger side one first, as it seems like that is the more likely culprit of the two.

mikealike: Check those rotors for warping unless you've already confirmed the R&P slop and bad bearings. If you have, you should really get that taken care of...

atari: Same for you, check those rotors!

It also has new brake rotors(front) & pads front and rear. I'm going to check out the driveline more. I want to make sure it is indexed (meaning that the cross' on the u-joints are not lined up with each other). I understand they are supposed to be oposite of each other. I also want to check out the rear trans mount. It looked good when I have it on the stands but i'm going to inspect it better. I'm also going to have the alignment checked. Even though the new tires are showing no wear. 100+ miles & they still have the nubbies all across the tread (front & rear). But while it is at the alignment shop I will have them check all steering componets as well. I think they are all good but....I am a very mechanicly inclinded person. I do build and fabricate offroad vehicles & sandrails.

Yeah, im pretty sure its not my rotor, almost anything I cant do other than fabrication still gets done at the stealership for peace of mind. And I have zero braking issues. I had an alignment done about six months ago. So that shouldnt be an issue. BNG, please keep us updated.

I still have my shake, I think it's just the "out of round" wheels. My tires used to rub and I think that messed them up to the point it where they shake.

I'm just gonna wait till the tread ran runs down to get new tires, I will give my two cents then.

Alignment done & all steering componets are good, still shakes. balanced drivelines, still shakes. Rechecked rearend, no problems there. I strapped down rear trans mount just to see if it was the trans mount, still shakes. I have spent a lot of money trying to figure it out. I give up at this point. Let it shake apart I quess...I will be putting some new wheels on it soon..has factory wheels now.

My truck has done this since I got it. I looked at it today, and it turns out I have a stuck caliper. The inside piston on the driver side is totally rusted tight.

I am pretty sure this is the problem, because when I get on the brkes, I can actually see the rotor bending in the inspection hole.

A few things I did eliminate, checked runout on rotors, new tires, changed idler arm. Still need to do the drag link and tie rod ends, but I am pretty sure the new brakes should fix it. I will give an update after I get this done.

BTW, this is my first post I think.

80 2wd pickup, flatbed.

Well, that wasn't it. It doesn't pull while braking anymore, but I still have the shakes. I think in the future, I will get the tires rechecked for balance, and go ahead with the drag link/tie rod replacement and see what happens.
