2wd rear end oil question?

Ok I am searching for my answer here but have a little bit of a hard time finding what I am looking for so I thought I would ask. I am in the process of changing my rear end oil. When I pulled the fill plug I put my pinky finger in to see if I could feel oil and I could not. Should I have been able to feel oil on my finger? Also when I pulled the drain plug oil did flow out not a lot but some so it was not run dry. The magnetic drain did have very small pieces of metal shavings stuck to the magnet. No big chunks just very small shavings. Should I be concerned about this or should I just be glad the magnet did its job and caught the shavings? Also wondering if I can over fill the fluid in the rear end or do I just fill it until it starts to run out the fill hole? I know I have seen the fluid capacities here somewhere but could not find with a quick search. I am going to search more now. ANY help input always GREATLY appreciated. Jay OH YEAH also torque setting for the plugs? I think I remember 52 ft lbs or something like that? Thanks
