Anybody using the Maxtrac 4" spindles up front with billies? If so, would the AllPro expedition springs be too much in the rear? Planning to add a tool box so there will be a little weight in the bed. Thanks...

 

Never heard of them. Doing a quick search, do they even make lift spindles for the pickups or just for tacomas? Parts are not compatible between the two.

 

I purchased a set from Headstrong Offroad but there still in the box. Need a little more $ to get a few more parts for the lift... Here's some info on them.

Ok, so you're asking about a tacoma prerunner. This thread is for 84-95 2wd pickups. You would probably get a better responses if you made your own thread.

If anyone's still reading this sticky, I know used upper control arms aren't difficult to find. My question is are there any non-aftermarket UCLs that will do the same job as the Fabtech ones?

 

Maybe this is a dumb question but is it possible to install a pre-runners suspension onto a 1984 2wd pickup? I am digging into lifting my 2wd and want something simple. The original idea was to turn up the torsion bars and buy longer shackles to get about 1" of lift but I am starting to think the torsion bar method is not the best method.

 

For my saggy a$$ rear end on ~200K mile original leafs that I beat up this year hauling over gross weights of concrete and asphalt I installed ProComp Add-A-Leaf kit #13120 which got me about a 2" rear lift and put me just a little higher than the stock front end.

While I was at it I changed the leaf spring bushings. A much smoother ride was noticed with the new bushings.

I started with a rear fender height of 27.5" and ended with a height of 29.75"

This was a beast of a project for me, even with some YouTube help. The order of operations of putting the leaf pack back into their mounts is critical. I found that you mount the relaxed/unbolted spring pack into their mounts THEN clamp them up and tighten the center bolt. Then you align the center bolt with the axle spring perch, then bolt up the bottom saddle.

The picture showing the leaf pack bolted together before mounting did not work for me.

Also, had to employ a "Redneck" shackle press using the factory screw jack and a custom length of 2x4 to press out the driver side shackle which was not cooperating with my BFH and I was concerned about damaging the threaded shaft with continued BFH blows.

PS: A proper Class III hitch was installed after the bumper mount was abused.
