2000 prerunner, not holding road

My wife has a 2000 prerunner w/ 31x 10.5x 15 tires. It does not hug the road good, and feels top heavy, easy to lose control, when hit a big bump, etc. I am assuming smaller tires would help, correct? The tires are new michelin mtx ($$) and I hate to trade out, do you thimk putting a heavy bag, 200 lbs. of sand in bed would help?

Bad steering stabilizer? (do they even have one?) Bad shocks? Worn out tie rods? Worn out swaybar links/mounts? Needs alignment? How fast are you going? It's not a sports car it's a truck.

All that should be good, just had it aligned. She loves truck but doesn't like feeling of not being stable. Thinking of getting a camry, but wanted to try weight instead, I will put weight back there and see, only way to find out for sure, just thought i'd SK FIRST.
