I need someone thatll work on my 4runner in Toronto!!!!!

Hey guys,

I have a 1987 4runner with a 22re 4 cyl, 5 speed, with no rust. Im in markham toronto by a lot of different busy mechanic spots. Ive gone to 3 different places so far to get work done and havent been happy with the service ive gotten. Every place ensures me they know about my truck but once i drop it off i get a call an hour later with questions about how certain things work due to my trucks age... Im planning on dropping a new engine in it soon but i want to salvage my current one as long as i can. I have no idea what to replace next... ive done all the basics. plugs, wires, cap, rotor, o2 sensor.
Its main issue right now is a rough idle and it stumbles when you give it more than half throttle in 3rd, 4th, and 5th. or go over 3000 rpm.(it feels like it starts to miss.. bad enough that it wont increase in speed, just keeps bucking around like on your on a bull). And its weird cause if i rev it in neutrel itll go all the way to the red line with no issue. I have to constantly drive like im a 90 year old man and not go over my new redline of 3000... yeeha.

Things i figure it could be...
The o2 sensor i got is NTK, i was told to use Denso or OEM
I took off my EGR valve and cleaned a ton of carbon out of it(it was like concrete inside, with no way for air to go through..) when i attached my EGR valve again i didnt change the gaskets... ive plugged the vacuum line to it now(the ghetto way of disconnecting the EGR system apparently.)
I havent looked into the fuel system yet... but im gettin the same mileage as other 4runner drivers
I cut my cat off so that cant be clogged...
I think i might have a vacuum leam by my intake manifold or EGR... but would that really only affect my engine when its under load?
I have my idle turned up to 1000 trying to hide my crappy idle..

Thanks for any advice.

Pooseboy

oh ya... it also leaks oil.. just enough to make a cloud everytime on start up... but i do have to check the level every like 4 days. No sludge in my coolant or oil cap..
and i have no CEL's on.. or hidden ones..

Its my daily driver aswell, my only vehicle... and its gone on over 4 600km+ in the last 2 months.... one thing 22re's are good at is going and going and going and going and going...

Wish I could help you out there. Too bad your not here in Kingston. I go to a family owned gargage, have been for the past 7 years...never a problem. Good luck with your rig.

bad or faulty TPS? Check resistance according to FSM or search for TPS adjustment,

4crawler.com has a good write up.
