no brakes ?

The last few days my brake light on the dash has been flashing on then back off . Last night I was in the 4runner sitting in the driveway and the light came on , I pumped the pedal a few times seeing if it would turn off . All the sudden the pedal lost pressure and hit the floor . Today I popped the hood and the breakers fluid Res is empty , seems to be a very small puddle under the motor area . I'm no brake expert , wondered if anyone had a similar experience and what the problem ended up being .
Should I add more brake fluid to use to find the leak ? How does a shop find the leak ? Air pressure? Other than changing pads I suck at brakes . The truck has 185,000 miles just in case it helps . Any comments or ideas would be great , thanks ytech

Pump em up and listen to see if there is a hissing noise as the pedal goes to the floor . Therefore it's leaking pressure . Or if that's not the case you could have a broke line or a kinked line allowing air into the break system

It turned out to be a busted rear brake line passenger side , the ground was all wet from rain and I couldn't see a puddle where it leaked . I replaced with a 30 inch line from parts store , did the one man brake bleeding and it seems about like it was before it went out , I will have help today , so I'm going to bleed em again and hopefully it gets a little stiffer . Thanks for the heads up on the booster, when it goes I'll know the symptoms.
