If you can get up to speed quick at 5-10 psi thats really all you need out there I may have gotten to a top speed of 40-45? just all about keeping momentum and keeping the tires on top of the sand

yeah seriously... set aside like 350 bucks and you'll be able to do the trip no problem. you both get way better gas mileage than i do and i only spent 200 in gas round trip, 50 on food, and still had 100 left to just blow... go there with like 400 bucks, and you'll be golden.

I LOVE toyotas response to engine trouble... "part failing? Ok... Either no throttle or full throttle..."

Forgot I had my transfer case front input gasket replaced as well... all the trips to the dunes some sand had wedged its way in there and eaten the gasket? First time ive heard of this happening. I had Clutchmart in Rancho fix it because I was pressed for time so no pics of the gasket but I do have some of the mess the transfer case was making

ive been doing alot of thinking about going back to a shell and or a type of shell like a rack or soft top... I use to have a shell on it but it had fitting issues, and my brother shattered the rear glass on it by accident. So instead of fixing it I sold the shell and set that idea aside for another time and went with what I have now.

My Old set up

The reason for posting this is more to get it off my mind lol but I am seroiusly considering selling the bed bar/bed box too once again put a shell on the truck and go with my original idea of a roof top tent roof rack and lights on top

Honestly...I love the shell, if I had a truck I would have a shell for the winter and open during the summer. How hard is it to pull that bar off to put a shell back on? If you could mount a rack to the shell while still making it easy to remove the shell when you wanted, that would be pretty sweet too.

I like it alot as well. I would keep the shell on most of the time, If I do get a shell drawers like you have will be in the works so taking the shell off wont happen often. The bed bar is easy to take off 4 bolts just like the bed box but ive thought about leaving it in there and using it as a light source in the shell.

Also thinking about keeping the bed box and the bed bar scrapping the shell idea and building a rack level with the cab

I have found my shell too be one of the bests mods I have done. Weather protection for my gear and my self is priceless.

After Surf N turf weather protection is a good thing. lol Its my original direction with the truck to make it my home away from home and id like it to get it heading back in that direction.

I highly recommend it Matt.

You mentioned you are interested in a Draw system. I have offered to help mike out with one, but he has gone no further then just toss the idea around. I offer the same to you. Maybe you could teach me how to use CAD?

Keith - funds are always the problem I haven't really ran into an issue where i require a drawer system but it would be cool nonetheless!

ive actually found a few deals on craigslist found one with the pop open side windows like you have in colfax. I just recently put 2004 CAD back on my home computer so I could teach you. Still have all my books and workbooks from school its for 2009 slightly different but commands are the same. I actually plan on building the box on CAD first before I start building it along with a electric plan when I clean up the rats nest under the hood.

can add stolen Cat to my list of set backs since 2007. So story goes as usual go out to fire up the truck and a loud roar echoed the neighborhood. Have about a 6-8 hour window of when it happened. So sick of this! This will be the second time someone has damaged or stolen my Cat in 2 years. Im on the edge of putting motion sensor cameras on my truck! http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-te...locations.html

I wanna know how they manage to get that thing off quietly. It seems like you usually park within 20 feet or so from houses, I would think a sawzall would definitely wake people up.

It would be cool if you had a keyless entry system, and everytime you hit the lock button it sent a strong electrical current to your exaust so if anyone ever touched it, it would give them the shock from hell. Only if...
