Hey everyone
Thought with all the that I've put into my 99 runner over the past year Id start this thread too keep track of everything for myself and share it with everyone else (feel free too leave a comment). My love for the 4runner started in 2008 with the purchase of my first ever runner (my 1996 2.7L SR5). After a few years, age and miles took its toll on the old 96 and I decided to upgrade. In April 2011 I finally came across a Black 1999 SR5 manual 4Runner, it was love at first sight.

I managed to not spend a penny on it until December 2011 when I had a little fight with a light pole on a snowy sad day. damage was heartbreaking and bad enough. I got some quotes to have it repaired from a few local auto body shops but with a price like $2500-3500 I decided to do it myself.

In march I came across a set of Fabtech adjustable coilovers 0-3.5" for a good price and decided then that my runner needed to go bigger. I purchased a set of OME 906's for the rear. With a few days to spare I went at it and started to put it together




With the 906's restricting me from going more than 2" in the front I decided to buy 1.5" coil spacers for the rear. Installed them and adjusted the front up to 3" now after everything had settled it sits at 38" from ground to the top of the wheel-well all around.


I had a nasty rust hole in my rocker panel so a couple weeks ago I went at it and patched it up


Since I had to remove the running boards to do the body work I decided to keep them off, which suprised the woman when she came out to try to jump in it with a skirt on
I decided too keep them off



This past weekend i replaced brake pads installed 1.25" wheel spacers and installed a 1" front diff drop.
So right now here i sit waiting on my tires to be available to me (285/75/16 DC fun country II)

 

I like the look of it without the running boards! Needs some bigger tires now!

 

I agree they will not be going back on.
Im counting down the days on the tires (285/75/16 DC Fun Country II's) 2 weeks and they should be ready. Its like waiting for Christmas when I was 10!

 

Nice! and swapping rims to different ones i assume?

 

Yes hopefully by the end of the year. For now stock rims with 1.25" wheel spacers. I got a price on these pro comp rims that are affordable to me and I like the looks of them. what do you think?

picked up a U joint and Moog rear swaybar link friday and replaced them that night. I was in a rush to go fishing for the rest of the weekend so I never got any pics. but heres a few pics of the weekend trip

great fun! one thing i love about where I'm from is the beautiful rivers. That sucks, be fun if it was mud other than sand!

Dang im jealous of your location up there! Down here in California where i live its either dunes which is no fun for wheeling and camping, or where i am located to get any decent trails i'd have to drive 2-3 hours! Lovin the 4Runner! My tuck is becoming more and more a 4Runner wannabe

 

Thanks bud, that's one thing I'm grateful about where I'm from is how beautiful it is, yet a lot of people around here never get out too see most of it. sounds like you might just have too convert from Taco to Runner

 

Eeeeeeww Runners nah i like runners and all, my freind and i are doing a build on his right now accually! i have the thread in my sig, but i am more of the crawlin and campin type guy like you i am assuming, but for the dunes and what not i got a dirbike

 

Well I have been slacking lately, not much has got done around here. Me and my son to a look at my front tire today and came too the conclusion i need an alignment, and need my new tires on ASAP

 

Decided too replace Both CV axles on the weekend since both had torn inner boots. I referred to this write up that helped A LOT http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/maintenance/cv_axle/
Overall it was an easy replacement (never swore once!)

 

Got a set of 285/75/16 DC Fun Country II's installed Yesterday.

Been a while, I figure Id update before I forgot. Since my last update I had a little issue with my 4wd not engaging. I checked the vacuum in both lines going too the actuator and both have good vacuum. Therefore I got it narrowed down to the actuator gone bad. so this week when I get a chance Im going to pick one up and replace it and see if it cures the problem.
Ive also been on the battle cleaning up all the rust on my runner (not saying there is a lot, but there is some).


Meanwhile heres a few shot I took a week or 2 ago for fun.
