dannomite's 1996 4Runner Build-Up Thread

My 1996 4runner was completely stock when I bought it a year ago. I have since done a couple of small things to improve it. I started with replacing the front shocks after they leaked when it was -42 celsius. I bought some bilstein 5100 designed by RCD. They have three height settings, stock, +1.5" and +2.5". I ran it at stock until I got my Old Man Emu 891 and shocks. In the mean time I enlisted the help of a couple of buddies and built a more stout replacement rear bumper. The old one was rusted through in several places. For this project I was not happy with any of the designs I had seen to date. So we designed something that combined the aspects that I liked and some things I had not seen before. After that I found a great deal on a roof basket. It is a Swagman. I am not sure of the model name because the guy I bought it from was not at all a detail oriented person. Then came the OME rear end stuff which I just installed. I would have taken more pictures of the before and after but it was pouring today so you will have to take my word for the fact that it sits 2.5" up in the front and a little better than that in the back. Whenever I can find the time I will fab up a front bumper and sliders and mounts for my hi-lift and some lights. I am waiting until spring for new tires. I am thinking Toyo MTs in the 255/85R16. And yes before people chime in I know that I need more lift to clear them. I have not decided if I want to do a 1" body or some spring spacers. Thoughts would be appreciated.

Taking some time for "us"

About two in the morning

Like I said I will get a better picture of the stance with the pinner tires once the weather clears up a bit.

clean rear bumper. The metal looks a little close to the body though...watch out for those rocks!

CYi5 Yeah I know it is close. It actually rubs when things articulate. I am going to trim it when I remove it to build the braces for the sides to frame. Thanks for the compliments.

It has been a while but I ended up getting a deal on some new tires and rims. I ended up with a set of Pro Comp extreme MT in a 285/75r16 on a set of Eagle Alloy 140 series rims.
