yea im still looking for a 96 and up, but at the same time that 91 4x4 seems like a really good deal to me. and i know i shouldnt expect a good mpg, but damn, if you were used to driving an acura averaging like 30mpg then dropping down to 13? but like u guys said, its a good truck and i agree. u gotta give somethin to get somethin i guess.

oh yea, i actually started out looking for a 2nd gen p/u, but the only ones ive found in my range were 5pd 2wds. the a/t 4x4s were like 6k. thats how i ended up looking for 4runners. just dont like low trucks for some reason.

Talking

I have a '90 4Runner, 4x4, A/T, 4.56's and 31x10.5's with 160,000 mi. and I have been getting 17mpg around town and just over 20 on the highway. I make maximum use of the overdrive. I used to drive a Honda Prelude that got 32-34 mpg regularly and a Subaru Loyale wagon that got 29-32 mpg so I was initially very disapointed in the gas mileage but now I can go off-road!

he said with a down payment of $4500, i can finance it (given that i have insufficient credit history)

It's not the worst I've ever seen, but it isn't a bargain either. I really think it'd be a good idea to go to the bank and get pre-approved for a car loan and then buy one outright. You could probably get that same truck for $6,500 if you bought it outright.

Pick up an autotrader tomorrow and you will see for yourself. If you are worried about breakdowns or something, most dealer warranties on cars don't last much longer than 90 days.

If I were you, I wouldn't even consider a 2WD.

Like FINK said, I would never even consider buying a 2WD vehicle.

I've been in them and it sucks.
