Question Wobbly Fan Clutch?

Hey everyone, I was flushing the cooling system today, and I noticed that the fan clutch is leaking a little grease and is a bit wobbly. I was checking it with the engine off with my hands. It has a lot of play in it. It was change just over a year ago and only has about 15,000 mile on it. Does anyone else's fan have a bit of wobbly play? ruck runs solid and doesn't overheat. How else can I check the fan clutch? I'm trying to avoid spending so much on a part that was recently replaced.

I'd try tightening it back down to torque spec, this time with some "thread locker" to make sure that the bolts don't bagk out again.

Spin the fan by hand (with the engine off). A good fan clutch should not allow the fan to spin more than approx. ¾ full rotation once you've let go. A weak fan clutch will likely let it spin well beyond a full rotation or two. If there's slop in the fan, the clutch bearing is probably toast. If you stand to the side with the engine running, sometimes you can actually see the fan moving slightly in & out when the bearing is bad...

it is toasted. Any play or leakage is a bad clutch.

I concur, as the factory manual says if there is signs of leakage replace the thermo clutch.
