Wiper suggestions...

I need to buy new windshield wipers and I am looking to see if anyone has some opinions to share.

I know that this is a small item, but I am very picky about wipers. I hate to buy new wipers that do not do a good job of clearing the windshield. It will be snowing here soon so I need to replace mine in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks,
Noel

I have been quite happy with Bosch although the rear window blade is less than satisfactory. They work well in snow and seem to last better than stock.

Another vote for the Toyota inserts. The others don't measure up, and the natural rubber OEM inserts do a better job. Just wash them with car wash solution along with everything else on the car, don't use an ammonia based cleaner, and be sure they're "parked" with the blades pointing downward for best wiping action.

I've been very satisfied with ANCO blades, refills only, unless the arms are rusted...

I also prefer the Toyota blades, got mine for $4.50 each online. One thing I recently noticed is that the replacements do not have the silver metal strip in them like the factory installed ones had. anyone notice this or know why?

You're supposed to reuse those silver strips.

Another vote for OEM blade inserts!

Thumbs up

I have installed Bosch blades on all my vehicles over the past couple of years, they work great!. We drive in the rain A LOT in Vancouver and the blades are great for keeping all the smear off. They don't squeek like other wipers I tried. I easily installed a pair on my Runner and my wife even noticed the difference immediatly.

I was considering it, but they are kinda pricey here in TX, and I just went with some ANCO refills. Also I didn't know that you were supposed to reuse those silver strips...darn I tossed them already. If I get some OEM blade inserts will I get some more?

Thanks Guys,
Outkast`

Those strips are kinda important...

Tossed the one that was on my rear wiper and had to buy the whole blade from toyota, though with the rears on the 1st gens I don't know if you can even get the aftermarket ones to fit, so far I have had to buy 2 rear blades fro 2 trucks from the stealership...

Tomus:

Stock blades all the way. I've tried the Bosch too but IMHO, the stock ones are the best. Oh and as other people have mentioned, keep the silver metal blade runner thingies. If you don't have them, your blades will not clean as well and will squeak like crazy. My wife's Camry blades were like this until I bought the replacement blade assembly 2 weeks ago.

I have the Boschs now and I am really not happy with them. The OEM Toyota blades seemed to last twice as long as these Bosch. I will definitely be going back to the Toyotas. I am sick and tired of hearing the Boschs squeak and rub and they aren't old at all.

Got mine...

Today at the dealer. Had to get the assemblies since the stockers got tossed eons ago...didn't have Toy blades when I bought it BTW. Putting them on tonight - weather OK tomorrow, but rain and snow Wed and Thurs. Got an insert for the rear also. I hope the claims are true...

Installing Toyota inserts will make your hair fall out or turn gray

No, you will like them I am sure. Like I mentioned, I ran the Bosch, then the Trico that is in the TV commercial with the squeaky voice.

They wore out fast, and never did clear rain off the windshild like the Toy ones.
You should feel like a kid on Xmas morning after putting these in :xmas3:

Will have proof soon

Bad weathers coming - head for the hills!!!

The last set I had were the Bosch. I'd rank them average. So I did the whole assembly up front and just an insert in the rear (ooh, that didn't sound good... ). Anyway, the rear refill went in without a hitch - it replaced what appears to have been either the original or second blade (said "Toyota" on it )

By the way, the hair's a memory and what's left is greying quickly (did I mention I'm married with three boys - oldest 4 yrs., youngest 16 months and one in between)

I run the PIAA Super Silicone blades myself. I really enjoy them and love using them when the rain starts a come'n down in buckets. They are really quite and really smooth. I'm not to sure on how long they last b/c I have only had mine for about 2 or 3 months now. But they are absolutley wonderful. I might give the Bosch a try after these PIAA and give them a try, but for right now PIAA's are #1 in my book.
