Will the limited wheel fit as a spare?

Hey all,

I've tried to search on this and couldn't find the answer so here's my question: Will a limited 5 spoke fit underneath my 3rd Gen where the spare tire goes? I had to use the stock spare steel wheel, and it ended up getting damaged so I thought about upgrading it with another 5 spoke. Has anyone ever tried this?

This is the wheel I'm talking about:

yes..its the same size. only its an alloy and not steel. stock size will fit up to a 32. i fit a 285/75 & a 255/85 under there...but had to ratchet strap it down as the larger diameter didnt sit as the stocker size did. the larger one rubbed on the tracbar, but it didnt cause any harm..

Ok, thanks. Did you have full air pressure in the 285 when it was under there?

Lots of gr8 advice here. Another option, I bought a stock 16" OEM 4runner alloy from my local wrecking yard that matched the ones I have on my '98 with a near new Goodrich all terrain tire for $85 as I did not want to have to put that steel wheel on if I had a flat. If you use any stock Toyota wheel of the same size as your OEM wheels coupled with the factory specified size tires that are listed in your Owners Manual it will fit without any issue. Read your owners manual and if you don't have one, check online or your Toyota dealer to find out what the OEM specs were/are. You will find the recommend tire sizes that your Toyota was designed to use. When you get into trouble is when you do lover sized tires. Its nice having a matching set of tires and wheels and even if the tire isn't the exact same one, hey its the spare!
