Will 2006 struts fit on a 95.5 Tacoma?

I have a 1995.5 Toyota Tacoma that I want to get some newer struts for. My dad has an 06 Tacoma with newer bilstein suspension on it, and he kept the old original struts. So my question is, will the 2006 Tacoma struts fit on my 1995.5? His truck is the double cab, 4X4. Mine is a 1995 ext cab 4X4, and it has the coilover style suspension not torsion bars. I tried searching for answers on this site and google but couldn't come up with anything specific other than no, maybe not, and not without modifications. Even if the answer is still no I'd like to know why, whether it be because the struts are completely different sizes, diameters, whatever it may be. I'd just like some info.

Any shocks or struts you could think of that you would recommend? Im not looking to lift my truck because I like the way it sits right now, but I want to soften the suspension a bit as its a little more stiff than I would like.

low mileage 95.5-04 TRD bilstein suspension? don't really know. I've never honestly met someone that wants their short wheel base truck to ride smooth. its no caddy.
