Will 1989 4runner rear diff fit my 98 4runner?

Will 1989 4runner rear diff fit my 98 4runner?
I have searched and can not find a definite answer. I know that both are 8" diffs but are they interchangeable? If so, any mods needed? Thanks.

it will work. assuming your 98 does not have an e-locker

it will fit. however, if the diff from the 1989 4Runner is a 2-pinion diff, then it will be significantly weaker compared to the stock 1998 4Runner diff. I presume this is for the rear diff. for front, i'm not sure
