I finally have the 22r running real good. It always ran pretty good though I have to admit. However, the minor mods gave it super crisp part throttle drivability and excellent full throttle performance.

Unfortunately, the only thing that could be alot better is the rough warm idle. It's not the kind of rough idle you'd get with the dist. vacuum advance unit disconnected, but a slightly rough idle at operating temperature. I've adjusted the valves, replaced all gaskets, rebuilt carb, replaced all vacuum hoses etc. I even cleaned out the old EGR valve, intake tube and modulator valve. Still has that crappy rough warm idle.

I realize that I'm probably going to have to buy a NEW one. These junkyard ones aren't cutting the mustard if you know what I mean. LOL! Most of the 'yard valves I'm finding are just as bad or even worse than the one I got in it now.

Why are the 22r/22re EGR valves so darn expensive? Yen to dollar ratio? Import tariffs? Trade restrictions? Or, is it just plain 'ole corporate greed?

The local Toyota stealership wants over $300 for a new one. Even NAPA was kind of high too. Are there any other places you can buy a new EGR valve for a reasonable price instead of these ridiculous prices the local Toyota dealer and NAPA are quoting me?

I'd go to a blockoff plate to avoid all of this, but I need to pass CA emissions every two years. Also, I prefer the fuel mileage benefit and cooler combustion temps that a functioning EGR valve provides.
