Question Who has a Snorkle on their 96-98 4Runner?

So who has installed a snorkle on their 96-98 4Runner? Why did you go this route and what parts did you actually use? Is there really a need for a snorkle? I drive through some deeper water that goes up to about half the headlights on a stock rig with 265's. Any thoughts/advise would be nice.

I fitted a Safari Snorkel as i'm planning a trip to the Sahara Desert & was advised that this would be a good option due to sand possibly being sucked through the stock air intake.

I run a snorkel, but it's an internal design. Did the mod after I hydrolocked an engine.

Doesn't the deck plate mod still prevent water from being sucked in? Or is ther still a possibility of it getting in there? just curious cus i've trekked some deep puddles and was considering a snorkle too.

The deckplate (when closed) still leaves the stock intake open to suck in water. A snorkel seals the stock intake and raises it to whatever height you choose to protect it from the water.
