I recently put the Osram Nite Breakers in my Subaru - I'm sold on them...they put out a great amount of light and are a good color, side by side with my g/f's M3 HID lights...granted they're not HID, but they're the best I'm gonna get in comparison.

Sorry Bro.. You are right. Just read the question and then saw that everyone was talking about osram's and Sylvania's.... Don't know what is up with the Walmart in your area, but all three Walmarts here still have them hanging up for sale in automotive dept.

Once again, sorry man.

Don't apologize man, it's just the internetz. There's either something fishy about my Wal-Mart or something fishy about the Nighthawks. I emailed GE to see if there really was a recall.

Thank you.

I HOPE there isnt a recall because I've run the Nighthawks for a long time now and I love them. Maybe I should go buy the few that are hanging there now so I have a set for later on!!

My email:

My question is concerning the GE "Nighthawk" automotive lamps. My local Wal-Mart in San Angelo, Texas has stopped carrying these products and when asked why, the manager answered that "General Electric had a recall on all Nighthawk bulbs and we will not carry them in the future."

Is it true that there was a recall on your Nighthawk lamps? If not, why would my particular Wal-Mart no longer carry them?

Thank you for your time,
Chris
Response from GE:
Dear Chris,

Thank you for contacting the GE Lighting website. I will be happy to
address your inquiry.

The recall involved one specific lamp in the "NightHawk" product line, its
9007 Headlight bulb produced between June 7, 2005 and August 23, 2005. The
lamps were not properly aimed, and provided shorter than normal range of
illumination at both high and low beams. So they were pulled from the
shelves, however as you can see by the time frame, it has long since
passed.

It is unfortunate that I would not be able to provide an explanation as
to why your local WalMart store is not carrying them today, in 2007.
While we cannot sell to you directly, GE Lighting offers a large network
of Retailers and Distributors that carry our products. Because not all
locations listed carry the complete line of GE Lighting products, please
feel free to contact them directly for product availability and their
policies about special ordering products that are not stocked.

The following links will enable you to locate both national retailers, as
well as distributors that handle hard to find and specialty bulbs:

You may also want to contact online vendors sites, such as:
www.donsbulbs.com, www.bulbman.com, www.bulbtronics.com, www.bulbdirect.
com, and www.atrlighting.com.

Again, thanks for visiting GELighting.com and your interest in our
products. We appreciate your inquiry.

Sincerely,

Barbara
GE Internet Response Team
So in short my Wal-Mart is just lame. They pulled all the Nighthawks, even ones that didn't apply to the recall (such as the 9003 for my 4Runner).

I'll just pick some up from Austin next weekend I guess.
